The checking order
Open the Publishing page
The specific error cause is here. Without it, what follows is guesswork — the error message almost always says what is wrong.
Check the connection's state on the Integrations page
For an expired token or a permission error, reconnect the account and grant every permission asked for.
For a format error, fix the content
Text too long, an unsupported image size, or an element the platform forbids. The error message names it.
Check that the target system is reachable
For a website: is the site working, is it under maintenance or password-protected?
Only then retry
After the fix, the retry can be started from the Publishing page.
Typical cases
| Symptom | Most likely cause | Remedy |
|---|---|---|
| Every publish on one channel failed at once. | Expired or revoked access. | Reconnect the account, then retry the failed publishes. |
| Only Instagram publishing fails. | The account is not a business or creator account, or it is not linked to a Facebook page. | Change the account type in Instagram, then reconnect. |
| The article went out, but the image did not appear. | The connection has no media-upload permission, or the target system rejected the size. | Check the permission; upload a smaller image if necessary. |
| The article went out, but the SEO title and description are empty. | The WordPress SEO plugin stores these elsewhere, and the connection did not write there. | See the metadata section of the WordPress connection article. |
| LinkedIn publishing cannot be selected. | LinkedIn publishing is available from the Growth plan. | Change plan, or publish by hand using the post text that was written. |
| I cannot publish to a website at all. | The Free plan allows 0 website connections. | From the Starter plan, 1 websites can be connected. |
It says successful, but I cannot find it
Have I lost my content through a failed publish?
No. The content and its version history stay in Pagioo; only the delivery did not happen.
Did a failed publish consume credits?
No. Publishing is not an AI operation and consumes no credits.
Does the system retry by itself?
For a temporary fault, yes. For a permanent one — expired access, a revoked permission — no, because until it is fixed every attempt would fail in the same way.
How can I prevent it?
Review the state of your connections on the Integrations page at the start of the month, and especially before scheduling a long way ahead. Leave the failed-publishing notification switched on.
