When is an image worth generating?
- For a blog header — where your site expects an image anyway and you have no photo of your own.
- For a social post — where a post without an image is effectively invisible.
- For an abstract topic — a process, a concept, a mood.
What does it cost?
An image is 5 credits — five times an article body's 1 credit. That is not accidental: image generation is the most expensive AI operation. So it is worth deciding at the start of a run whether every article needs a picture, or only the ones that will actually appear with one.
Alt text
Every image gets alt text: the description screen readers announce and search engines read. Two things are worth knowing about it:
- Accessibility — without alt text the image does not exist for a reader using a screen reader.
- Check it when the image carries meaning — for a chart or a screenshot the automatic description says less than one sentence from you would.
What to check before publishing
- Is there any garbled or nonsensical text in it?
- Does it show a recognisable person or someone else's brand mark?
- Does it fit the article, or is it generic decoration?
- Is the crop right where it will appear — in the header and in the share preview?
Can I regenerate the image if I do not like it?
Yes, but a new image uses another 5 credits. If only the crop is wrong, look at that first.
Can I upload my own image instead?
Yes, you can swap the generated image for your own in the editor. Your own image costs no credits.
Why does the image not appear in the published article?
Usually a format or size limit at the target channel, or the connection lacking permission to upload media. See Publishing failed.
