Autopilot: content that runs itself

Setting the rhythm, what Autopilot does and does not do, managing credits, and when to pause it.

Short answer

Autopilot means a repeating content run: you set a rhythm and Pagioo then researches topics, produces content and places it in the calendar on its own, without you starting it each time. Starter offers weekly, fortnightly or monthly; Growth and Scale add daily; the Free plan has no recurring Autopilot. Autopilot never publishes against your approval settings: if you require approval, the content waits for your decision.

What does Autopilot do?

  • Starts a run on its own, on the rhythm you set.
  • Researches topics from your brief and source material, aware of what you have already written.
  • Produces the content — the article, posts for the channels you chose, and an image if that is switched on.
  • Places it in the calendar, within your planning window.
  • Notifies you that something is ready and what is waiting for you.

What does Autopilot not do?

  • It does not write about topics you excluded in the brief.
  • It does not exceed your plan's per-run article cap.
  • It does not spend credits beyond your balance: if they run out the run does not start and you are notified.
  • It does not replace fact-checking — finished content still has to be read.

Managing credits with Autopilot

Autopilot means predictable consumption, and it is worth working out in advance. On a weekly rhythm with three articles and images per run: 4 runs × 3 articles × (1 + 5) credits, plus 10 credits per run for the plan. You see the balance on the Billing page and can top up if it runs out.

What happens if credits run out while Autopilot is on?

The run does not start and you are notified. No debt is created, and the system does not charge automatically.

Will it write about the same thing every week?

No: topic research takes account of what you have already written and warns about topic overlap. If you do see repetition, it is worth widening the topic areas in the brief.

Is Autopilot available on the Free plan?

There is no recurring Autopilot on Free. You can still produce content on Free with manually started runs.

Does Autopilot publish automatically?

That depends on how you set up the workflow. With an approval step the content waits for it. Without one, and with a healthy channel connection, it goes out as the calendar says. The publishing mode setting is what decides this — see Settings.
